Release by Mufti of Egypt: Ali bin Abi Talib predicted the emergence of «Islamic state»

Sisi Advisor for Religious Affairs: Great powers for the Counter-Terrorism Council

The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawki Allam, said that Ali bin Abi Talib had predicted the emergence of the "Islamic State" about 1,400 years ago, when he described them as "the owners of black flags."

Allam Bin Abi Talib had said about the owners of the black flags that "they are the owners of the state, they do not abide by a covenant or a charter, they claim to the right and not from his family," Allam said in remarks to the Maspero program broadcast on Egyptian television.

He continued: «We are in front of a fierce attack on the homeland and religion in itself, because these extremists wore the cloak of religion, which is innocent.

"We need to study the causes of extremism, especially the extremist mentality, because there is no single reason for extremism but overlapping reasons," he added.

In parallel, the Egyptian Minister of Awqaf, Mohammad Mukhtar Jumaa, will hold an urgent meeting on Sunday, with the agents and directors of the directorates of the endowments at the level of the Republic, to tighten control of the mosques.

The Ministry of Awqaf said in a statement on Friday that the meeting comes to control the advocacy work and tighten control of mosques, and the exclusion of any extremist element.

The ministry said the meeting would discuss preventing any element of any militant group from going up the pulpit, giving religious lessons in mosques or leading the prayers.
Sheikh Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, said that the theory of chaos, which is described as "creative", has plunged people and countries into blood for this lie, because chaos only gives rise to destruction and destruction.

Al-Tayeb said during his weekly interview on Egyptian television on Friday that the theory of acquaintance requires that the relationship between people is peace, and this theory should be preached, in contrast to the false theories that call for conflict and clash of civilizations. That what must prevail among people is peace and the exchange of interests and not the conflict of interests.

On the other hand, the Presidential Advisor for Religious Affairs Dr. Osama Al-Azhari described the announcement by President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi to form the Supreme Council to confront terrorism and extremism as "urgent and urgent action that will have immediate results." He pointed out that the President gave the Council great powers to confront extremism in all its forms .

During his visit to the Suez Governorate, he said that extremist currents are still going on very quickly, ahead of a number of institutions in the country. There was a need to close the gap exploited by extremist groups to kidnap young minds turning them into a dagger at home.

He pointed out that «the Supreme Council to confront terrorism» will address this gap, especially with the great powers obtained, surpassing all the complexities that were before the institutions of the state in the past.

Notes on a some of the things that have caught my attention

I see God's handiwork in all things of heaven and earth when I really look into matters. I also look to see what the spirit can show us. In seeking to understand I try to find what type of spirit is at work in the world. I will go through a bit of the historical significance of ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib  علي ابن أبي طالب‎ and those who have used a Black Flag in the history. I do not believe in mere happen-stance when things seem as obvious as circumstances this. As humans we are both spiritual and carnal beings. Finding that spiritual side is not always an easy task. As believers in Jesus Christ if we are willing to seek truth, worship in truth, walk in the spirit per instructions and recall that the lord chooses the foolish things of the world (this is to confound those who believe they alone are wise in their own eyes) we can find it, John 4:24-26, Galatians 5:16-17, 1 Corinthians 1:27.

A brief description of who  ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib was:

‘Ali ibn Abi Talib was a son-in-law and cousin to Nabi Muhammad the ruler over the Islamic Caliphate from 656 to 661 ACE. He was the Imam to the Shi‘ite faction of Islam. At this time in history Islam religion created by Muhammed split into two factions. One was called Sunni or Sunnah and the other called Shi'ite or Shia. Sunnis consider Ali the fourth and final of the Rashidun (rightly guided) caliphs, Shi‘ites regard ‘Ali as the first Imam after Muhammad due to their interpretation of the events at Ghadir Khumm. Shias also believe that ‘Ali and the other Shi‘ite Imams (these are members of the Ahl al-Bayt, Muhammad's household). Due to the lineage of hundreds of years ago they believe that they are the rightful successors to Muhammad. Evidently this was the point of disagreement that split the Ummah (the Muslim community) into the Sunni and Shia factions.

Black flags that have been flown throughout history per wikipedia and a few other websites:

A black flag (Black Standard) was used by Muhammad to represent his religion. It was used as the standard of the Abbasid Caliphate. The Abbasid invasion of Asia Minor was in 782. It was one of the largest operations launched by the Abbasid Caliphate against the Byzantine Empire. The Abbasid Revolution in 748–750, were supplanters of the Umayyad Caliphate. It has also been stated that it will be the flag of the army that will fight the Dajjal (meaning 'deciever or liar' in arabic, in Islam it is the anti-christ, the leader of evil ones or satan). The Dajal are also referred to in the Books of Enoch being the liars and deceivers. A lying spirit, a deceiver is also sent out to be in the mouth of king Ahab's prophet when Ahab (son of king Omri "pupil of Jehovah") chooses a path of wicked rebellion and refuses to repent when God sends warnings via Elijah (Ahab declared war on God by killing his prophets), 2 Chronicles 18:21, 1 Kings 22:21-23. According to some who give details of Islamic tradition, a Mahdi's time will coincide with the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (Isa), who is to assist the Mahdi against the Masih ad-Dajjal (literally, the "false Messiah" or Antichrist). In historical events we can also refer to the days of the Frankish Carolingian Empire and the Abbasid Caliphate to learn more about the Abbasid. They were an alliance that partially formed during the 8th to 9th century through a series of embassies, rapprochements and combined military operations between the Frankish Carolingian Empire and the Abbasid Caliphate and pro-Abbasid rulers in Al Andalus (Islamic Spain and Portugal).

The Ahmadiyya flag, first designed in the 1930s during the second Caliphate. An Islamic religious movement founded in Punjab, British India, near the end of the 19th century. It originated with the life and teachings of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835–1908), who claimed to have appeared in fulfilment of the prophecies concerning the world's reformer during the end times, who was to bring about, by peaceful means, the final triumph of Islam and herald the eschaton as predicted in Islamic scriptures as well as the traditions of various world religions. He claimed to have been divinely appointed as the Mujaddid (renewer) of Islam ("submission"), the promised Messiah and Mahdi awaited by Muslims. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad founded the movement on 23 March 1889. Since his death, the community has been led by a number of Caliphs and has expanded to 209 countries and territories of the world as of 2016 with concentrations in South Asia, West Africa, East Africa and Indonesia. Their current leader is Mirza Masroor Ahmad (Urdu: مرزا مسرور احمد‎) also referred to as "Sahibzada Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad" or simply "Masroor Ahmad" (born 15 September 1950 in Rabwah, Pakistan, the global headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at the time) is the current and fifth caliph (Arabic: خليفة المسيح الخامس‎‎, khalīfatul masīh al-khāmis), and leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. He was elected as the fifth successor of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad on 22 April 2003, three days after the death of his predecessor Mirza Tahir Ahmad, the fourth Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Following the death of the fourth caliph, the Electoral College, for the first time in the history of the community, convened outside the Indian subcontinent and in the city of London, after which Mirza Masroor Ahmad was elected as the fifth caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. At the very commencement of his accession, he found himself forced into exile from Pakistan in response to pressure from the Pakistani government and has continued to lead the community from London. Under his leadership the community's satellite TV network MTA International, launched by his predecessor, has expanded into several further affiliated channels to provide transmission in different languages. Their current global headquarters for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community as well as Friday prayers from Baitul Futuh Mosque, in Morden, London. Saying that this was an abuse of free speech, Ahmad condemned the publishers of the cartoons from the Danish newspaper which published some caricatures of Muhammad. In 2010, plans were being made to build a 13-story Muslim community center located two blocks from the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan, New York City he attempted to justify this proposal. On 8 April 2012, Mirza Masroor Ahmad did condemn the fatwa (edict) of Abdul Aziz al-Shaikh, Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia calling for the destruction of all churches in Saudi Arabia and surrounding Arab states.

During the German Peasants' War of the 16th century the black flag was used by the revolting farmers. It was a widespread popular revolt in the German-speaking areas of Central Europe from 1524 to 1525. It failed because of the intense opposition by the aristocracy, who slaughtered up to 100,000 of the 300,000 poorly armed peasants and farmers. The survivors were fined and achieved few if any of their goals. The war consisted, like the preceding Bundschuh movement and the Hussite Wars, of a series of both economic and religious revolts in which peasants and farmers, often supported by Protestant clergy, took the lead. The German Peasants' War was Europe's largest and most widespread popular uprising prior to the French Revolution of 1789. The fighting was at its height in the middle of 1525.

Afghanistan flew a solid black flag from 1709–38 and from 1880–1901 from the Hotak dynasty plain black flag. From 1901-1919 the Amir Habibullah period flew a black flag with his symbol, a temple, two swords, wheat, two lightening bolts, and two flags. The flag represented state and war. Third flag flown under the rule of King Amanullah. The black, red, and green tricolor, respectively representing the past (previous flags), the bloodshed for independence (Third Anglo-Afghan War), and hope for the future. The flag has changed frequently through the years as strife continued. Solid black flag; flag of the Emirate of Afghanistan from 1880-1901. Flag of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, first designed in the 1930s. For Ahmadi Muslims, it symbolizes the advent of the Mahdi. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad 1835-1908 promoted peaceful resolution through debate. He claimed to be the Mujaddid for the turn of the century ("revivor" of Islam or Islamic term for one who brings "renewal", [Sunan Abu Dawood, Book 37: Kitab al-Malahim [Battles- is one of the six major hadith collections of Abu Dawood written originally in arabic that has been translated and widely distributed in various languages], Hadith Number 4278 states "Allah will raise for this community at the end of every hundred years the one who will renovate its religion for it"]). The original Mizra Ghulam Ahmad was from the 14th Islamic century, the promised Messiah (“Second Coming of Christ”) and Mahdi ("guided one" prophesied redeemer of Islam who will rule for five, seven, nine, or nineteen years [according to differing interpretations] before the Day of Judgement whom the Muslims were awaiting. He claimed to be a prophet within Islam albeit whose prophethood was a reflection of Muhammad and not independent of him. He also claimed to have appeared in the likeness of Krishna and that his advent fulfilled certain prophecies found in Hindu scriptures (though he held Krishna to be a prophet of God and a human being, rather than God or an incarnation of God). His claims were accepted by tens of thousands of his time but he was opposed and not accepted by the majority of the mainstream Muslims of his time; this has changed as we can see the growth through media outlets with the Ahmadiyya. Keeping in mind the Shia and Ahmadiyya have their own list of mujaddids.

The black flag with the motto Viurem lliures o morirem (We live free or die) was flown by Catalan army and militia corps during the final stages of the War of the Spanish Succession, when the Allies had already abandoned Catalonia that fought alone against the Spanish and French armies during 1713-1714. This black flag was packaged in 2012 with the historical novel Lliures o Morts (Live Free or Die) authored by Jaume Clotet and David de Montserrat.

The Black Flag was also flown by certain irregular Confederate Army units in the American Civil War of 1861-1865 to symbolize that they would neither give, nor accept quarter; symbolizing the opposite of the white flag of surrender.

The Anarchist black flag has been an anarchist symbol since the 1880s. Anarchists use either a plain black flag or a black flag with an "A" and an "O" around it, this symbol is a reference to a Proudhon quote, meaning anarchy is the mother of order .

The color black was famous as the flag of Italy's National Fascist Party, designed after the party's paramilitary Blackshirt's. The Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nazionale (MVSN, "Voluntary Militia for National Security"), commonly called the Blackshirts (Italian: Camicie Nere, CCNN, singular: Camicia Nera) or squadristi (singular: squadrista), was originally the paramilitary wing of the National Fascist Party and, after 1923, an all-volunteer militia of the Kingdom of Italy. Their methods became harsher as Mussolini's power grew, and they used violence and intimidation against Mussolini's opponents. In 1943 the MVSN was integrated into the Italian armed forces.

Upon the surrender of Nazi Germany in World War II German U-boats were ordered to fly a black flag and sail to an Allied port and surrender. The "Special Orders by the Supreme Commander" in the terms of surrender, "These ships are to fly a large black flag at the mast-head by day and by night are to flash a searchlight vertically every 30 seconds."

The Jolly Roger, or skull and crossbones, is flown to identify a ship's crew as pirates about to attack. The flag most commonly identified as the Jolly Roger today is the skull and crossbones (although swords are also common), a flag consisting of a human skull above two long bones (probably tibias) set in an x-mark arrangement, most usually depicted crossing each other directly under the skull, on a black field. This design was used by several pirates, including Captains "Black Sam" Bellamy, Edward England, and John Taylor. Some Jolly Roger flags also include an hourglass, another common symbol representing death in 17th- and 18th-century Europe. Despite the prominence of flags with art in popular culture, plain black flags with no art were often employed by most pirates in the 17th–18th century. Historically, the flag was flown to frighten the pirates' victims into surrendering without a fight, since it conveyed the message that the attackers were outlaws who would not consider themselves bound by the usual rules of engagement—and might, therefore, slaughter those they defeated (since captured pirates were usually hanged, they did not have much to gain by asking quarter if defeated). Since the decline of piracy, various military units have used the Jolly Roger, usually in skull-and-crossbones design, as a unit identification insignia or a victory flag to ascribe to themselves the proverbial ferocity and toughness of pirates. In a non-naval context the skull and crossbones motif has additional meanings, for example, to signify a hazard such as poison.

The flag of the Chetnik movement in Serbia and former Yugoslavia during the 20th century, with the words "Sloboda ili smrt (liberty or death) inscribed in white under a skull.

Black flag use in society

Black flags are often associated with funerals in the West, particularly state funerals and public mourning.
In the former Yugoslavia, a plain black flag is the flag of mourning. It is displayed for 40 days after death on the deceased person's house.

Black Flag is another name for the Jolly Roger, a skull and crossbones on a black field, and is associated with pirates.

The black flag is the symbol of the Jewish ultra-Orthodox, anti-Zionist group, Neturei Karta. It is flown as a sign of mourning over the creation of the State of Israel, most commonly on Israeli Independence Day.

The Swedish Pirate Party have a black flag as a symbol, shaped like the letter P.

In the German and Finnish militaries, black has been the traditional color of armored troops, which carries over to the flags of armored units. In Finland, also combat engineers have a black flag. The Armoured Brigade has a black flag defaced with a helmet, and engineer battalions have the black flags defaced with various symbols.

Ideologues with black flags

It is an Islamic militant group operating in the Jammu Kashmir region of Pakistan, run by Jasniel Rihal. The group was alleged to be formed by the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in 1998. It is believed the group was encouraged by the ISI to operate independently from their previous umbrella group, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM). Prior to the groups separation from HM, they participated in the fighting in Afghanistan in 1990 as part of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar's Hizb-l-Islami (HIG) alongside other anti-Soviet Afghan mujihadeen. Al Badr is listed as a terrorist group. These flags can been seen in militant jihad protest groups. They have been linked to Jamaat-e-Islami, plus they are alleged to have ties with al-Qaeda. They use suicide squads as a tactic.

In competition, as a signal

The black flag is a racing flag used to summon a driver to the pits.
In sail racing, when the black flag is displayed with the preparatory signal, a boat that is over the starting line in the minute prior to the starting signal is immediately disqualified without a hearing.
In some forms of racing, a black flag is used to disqualify competitors or indicate some other penalty (such as a forced pit stop in NASCAR).

Fictional black flags

In The Silmarillion and other Middle-earth writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, the banner of the evil overlord Morgoth is described as being entirely black with no insignia.

Black Flag pest control. It is the oldest insecticide brand in the United States. Established in 1883, Under the brand name Black Flag a variety of products designed for killing and controlling pest have been sold around the globe. From old-time.com on the history 'commercial announcements' of Black Flag, "Now you know the bad side of D.D.T. and Chlordane, let’s go back to the year 1948.  Back then, D.D.T. and Chlordane were seen in a completely different light. They were the most effective and popular insecticides in the elimination of annoying insect pests. Many bug killer brands in 1948 included either insecticide in their respected formulas.  One such product, and the featured subject of this article, contained both of them. At the time, it was a revolutionary new brand of insecticide--- Black Flag Super Insect Spray. Radio listeners heard announcer Ed Fleming talk about this amazing insecticide on NBC’s FRONT PAGE FARRELL serial program.  Fleming referred to Black Flag as “The Sensation of 1948.” He also stated the product was the most effective insecticide ever made for home use. There was a reason why Black Flag Super Insect Spray was more effective than other insecticides. That reason was strength in numbers.  Instead of just one bug-killing ingredient, Black Flag Super Insect Spray contained 5 different insecticides in one blue can. They were Lethane, Pyrethrum, Piperonyl Butoxide, and of course, D.D.T. and Chlordane. In the commercial, Fleming stated that Chlordane was “the newest insect killing agent.”  All by its lonesome, Chlordane was more effective in killing crawling insects than any other insecticide--- including D.D.T. Since Black Flag Super Insect Spray contained 5 different insecticides, it did away with just about any insect pest known to mankind.  It was sprayed with the handy Black Flag Sprayer both in the air and on a surface, wherever the bug problem originated.  In a matter of seconds, insects within the immediate area were kicking the bucket with astonishing speed.  It didn’t matter if the insects flew, crawled, or stood on their heads, Black Flag Super Insect Spray was an equal opportunity bug killer. It took great delight in killing them all."

Black flag for promotion; Pettibon's drawing of a police officer being held at gunpoint was used on flyers and merchandise promoting the "Police Story" single.

Black Flag American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach, California. Black Flag is the name of a number of anarchist periodicals, most notably the British anarchist bi-annual magazine Black Flag, mainly known for its coverage of international anarchist politics as well as supporting "class war" prisoners. Black Flag was founded by Albert Meltzer and Stuart Christie in 1970, with the name of the periodical being drawn from the traditional anarchist symbol dating back to the 1880s.

The Black Banner (Chernoe Znamia (or Chornoe Znamia) (Russian: Чёрное знамя), known as the Chernoznamentsy, was a Russian anarchist communist organization. It emerged in 1903 as a federation of cadres. It took its name, "The Black Banner", from the black flag, the use of which as a symbol of anarchism in Russia, according to An Anarchist FAQ, coincided with its founding.
